Production is well underway on a new documentary about the career of Sir Ian McKellen.

McKellen: Playing the Part is being directed by Joe Stephenson and follows the also 50-year career of the man who has played Gandalf, Magneto, numerous Shakespearian role and much more.

As well as interviews with the man himself, it also features the likes of Luke Evans, Frances Barber, Adam Brown and Scott Chambers. The film’s music is being provided by Peter Gabriel.

Sir Ian has filmed over 14 hours of interviews for the film which will also feature archive material of his early work, and never-before-seen photography from McKellen’s private collection.

No word yet on when we’ll get to see the finished article, but here’s a first look clip.
