Here’s the first look at Poldark’s Eleanor Tomlinson alongside Rafe Spall in the BBC’s forthcoming adaptation of War of the Worlds.

The three paper drama is based in HG Well’s iconic sci-fi novel.

Set in Edwardian England, the series follows Amy (Tomlinson) and partner George (Spall) as they try to defy both the prejudices of society and an alien invasion to start a life together.

Also in the cast are Rupert Graves as George’s elder brother Frederick, and Robert Carlyle as astronomer Ogilvy.

This has Christmas TV epic written all over it.
