According to reports a bidding war has broken out for the rights to release a film of the stage production of Hamilton.
The Broadway version of the show was filmed back in 2016 when it started Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr, Philippa Soo and Jonathan Groff.
Apparently, Warner Bros, Twentieth Century Fox and Netflix are all chasing the film with a potential pricetag of $50 million.
Hamilton, based on the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton, has so far won 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy, a Pulitzer, and the West End production recently receiving six Olivier Awards.
Whoever does bag the rights isn’t expected to release the film until 2020.
