A song that was cut from the original version of The Muppet Christmas Carol has been found and reinstated.
Director Brian Henson told BBC Radio 2 he was “excited” and “happy” that the song, called When Love Is Gone, will be included in forthcoming versions of his film.
It is sung to a young Scrooge by his fiancĂ©e Belle in the Muppets’ version of the classic Dickens story. Disney removed the song because they felt it wouldn’t appeal to young viewers.
It was cut from the cinematic release, but was available on the VHS version. However, the DVD release is of the cinematic version.
But two weeks ago, Henson received a phone call to tell him the film was being remastered in 4K and asking him to check the new version. As he watched, he discovered the song had been put back in.
However, Henson says he doesn’t know if the new version will be available on Disney Plus in time for Christmas.
