Time to party with BAFTA

One of the things that always interests me around major awards shows are the spin-off events that take place in the days before.

This year’s British Academy Film Awards are no exception. Having already hosted an Inaugural Gala Film Dinner on Thursday, tonight BAFTA takes over Kensington Palace for its annual Nominees Party.

It’s a new venue for the event, which has previously been held at Asprey’s in Bond Street. Let’s hope if Prince George is at home, mum and dad have got him safely tucked up in bed – although I do love the thought of little George wanting to party with the nominees.

Tomorrow there’s the official afterparty following the Awards themselves. BAFTAs guests with be taken from the Royal Opera House down to the Grosvenor House Hotel (usually in mini-buses if you’re not one of the glamorous few). There the great and the good of the British film industry, and David Beckham, will be invited to dine on terrine of roasted smoked salmon, Roast sweet potato, red onion and Taleggio tart and iced cacao nib parfait with 90% hacienda chocolate mousse milk purée and kirsch soaked cherries. Sounds lovely!

So not only are the stars given shiny awards, they get to party with a Prince, eat lovely food and generally be feted over by all and sundry. Gosh it must be a hard life!

Daredevil trailer

Here’s the trailer for Marvel’s brand new series, Daredevil.

The show debuts on Netflix on April 10.

It stars British actor Charlie Cox (last seen in The Theory of Everything) as Matt Murdock whom after being blinded as a young boy, fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

The show also features Vincent D’Onofrio and Rosario Dawson.

New Home clips

Here’s a couple of clips from new DreamWorks animation Home.

The film features great voice cast including Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez.

When Oh (Jim Parsons), a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip (Rihanna) who is on a quest of her own.

Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human.

And while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word Home.

The film is released in the UK on March 20.
