Netflix has announced plans for a new series and film projects based on CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia.
Under the terms of a multi-year deal, Netflix will develop stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its viewers worldwide.
“C.S. Lewis’ beloved ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer of Netflix. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”
No word yet on specifics.
It’s interesting that Netflix has struck this deal. It seems awfully similar to the one Amazon has signed with the estate of JRR Tolkien for The Lord of the Rings. And of course Tolkien and Lewis were contemporaries.
