After years of waiting, Amazon’s new TV series based on JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings finally has a release date.
The series, which was first announced back in 2017, will debut on 2nd September 2022. New episodes will be released on a weekly basis.
To mark the announcement, the streamer has released the very first image from the show.
Very little is known about the series’ plot, although it is expected to take place in the Second Age, thousands of years prior to the events of both The Lord of the Rings books and The Hobbit.
The show’s cast includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Charles Edwards, Sir Lenny Henry, Joseph Mawle, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
